Shred Your Calendars

This was a fun design challenge and project to work on for me. I first began by mind-mapping what words or ideas came to mind when I thought of Vagaro and it’s multiple applications. I looked at past instagram posts on Vagaro’s page as well as the provided examples from the assignment to get a sense of Vagaro’s branding strategy.

From there, I set up a 24”x24” studio photography box to take pictures of my iPhone using my mirrorless camera (Fujifilm X-T2 w/ 18-55mm). I installed a grey vinyl backdrop and diffused two LED strip lights from the top side of the box. I shot multiple photos that included just the phone itself, my model holding the phone in her hand, and hung up the phone using scotch tape to get it to “float.” Finding creative ways to anchor and hold up the phone was a fun challenge working in with small space.

For my final drafts I have provided two examples:

My first ad is soft and makes use of natural curves from the model’s hands to help guide the eye around the screen. More of a corporate feel while still feeling inviting enough and allowing for the color of the interface to contrast through the cooler colors around it.

The concept behind my second ad is making use of a paper calendar and portraying Vagaro as the better solution to an analog calendar for keeping track of appointments and is being “shredded” out of the bottom of the phone. Later renderings of this could include an animation of the paper being shredded out to provide a better visual impact.
